Video: Local Authorities Increase Safety Precautions for Irish Festival
NORTH WILDWOOD, N.J. – After the recent bombings that shook both New York and New Jersey, Cape May County authorities are taking the extra steps to make sure participants attending a festival over the weekend are safe. In North Wildwood, Olde New Jersey Avenue from Second Street to Pine Avenue will be closed for the Irish Festival from September 23rd to the 26th. Trolley and bus services will be available to and from the festival, and free parking on Anglesea Drive will be provided for participants as well. Backpacks and coolers are not permitted inside the festival area as well as alcoholic beverages. Police are reminding those taking part in the Irish festivities over the weekend that "if you see something, say something." Suspicious activity or objects can be reported to an officer on-duty in the festival area or to the police department directly at (609)522-2411. And in case of an emergency, call 9-1-1.
