Video: Bancroft Opens New Health and Wellness Center in Mullica Hill

MULLICA HILL, N.J. – In Mullica Hill, the opening of a new state-of-the-art facility will now allow adults with intellectual disabilities to receive medical services with ease.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony was held today at the Bancroft Health and Wellness Center Lakeside Campus. Bancroft is a non-profit provider based out of Cherry Hill, which serves more than 200 community-based group homes and supervised apartments. And they were able to build the new non-profit facility through sponsorship by the Salem Health and Wellness Foundation and Community Foundation of New Jersey.
The new location allows Bancroft's residents and other adults in the community with autism or other developmental disabilities to get the medical attention they need while reducing the anxiety, fear, or aggressive behavior they sometimes experience.
"What's really special about the health and wellness center is we've never been able to provide the health care services to the individuals we serve. So instead for dentists and regular check-ups, they would have to go out into the community. But many because of their behaviors related to their diagnosis, they can't really get the care that they need. So, often they would forgo really important medical check-ups," said Toni Pergolin, president and CEO of Bancroft Health and Wellness Center.
