Video: New Jersey Run for the Fallen Begins 188-Mile Journey in Avalon


AVALON, N.J. – Runners with the eighth annual New Jersey Run for the Fallen began their four-day journey in Cape May County on Thursday morning.
At each mile along the 188-mile run, they place hero markers for fallen military heroes from New Jersey, and at each marker, the family of the fallen receives a flag.
The core run team consists of military personnel from all branches. And their motto is "one mile, one flag, one hero."
The run will finish around 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Holmdel.
