WTHS Students Raise $32,000 For Lou Gherig's Disease

Led by members of the Washington Township High School Interact Club, under the direction of advisors April Renzetti and Natalie Taylor, 578 WTHS students raised $32,000 for the 12 Annual "Monzo Madness" dance-a-thon to benefit local victims of Lou Gherig's disease.
Student couples spent 19 hours from the afternoon of January 16th to the morning of January 17th showing off their varied dance moves during the dance-a-thon. A number of area businesses including Dunkin Donuts, Liscio’s Bakery, Scarpinato’s Cucina, Wawa, and Chick-Fil-A contributed refreshments and gift cards to the cause.
“I am immensely proud of all of you,” WTHS Principal Joe Bollendorf said to the participants before the event kicked off, “because you dance for others who cannot.  They do not have the ability to move or talk.  Remember that when you are tired and think you can’t go on.  You can dance.  Do not forget why you do this.  You should all be modeled and emulated for your efforts as an example of what is possible when it comes to community service and charity.”
WTHS has donated over $210,000 to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia since the fundraiser’s inception.
