Washington Township Set to Launch Their String Concert

String students in grades four through twelve have enjoyed working with 1996 Washington Township High School graduate and professional musician Ranaan Meyer in preparation for the District’s String Festival.
Some 540 elementary, middle, and high school students will come together for a celebration of string music and a performance of Meyer’s original composition entitled “Northern Beauty.”
“The piece that I wrote, in collaboration, is extremely fun for string players,” Meyer said. “There is a flavor of the rhythm and a foundation that immediately hooks you in. After the students worked on the piece for a month or so, I came in and worked with them to try to empower and engage them in a way that was different from their teachers. Our hope was that the kids would get excited that this living composer, who wrote the piece that they will be performing, came in to personally assist them.”
The concert will be held in the TD Bank Arts Center at 7 pm on Tuesday, January 20th. Admission to the event is free.
