Washington Township High School Hosts Alumni Panel Discussion

The Washington Township High School Counseling Office hosted its third annual Alumni Panel on Wednesday, January 7th.
A select group of nine accomplished, recent WTHS graduates (2011-14) took part in an information session about college with current juniors and seniors.
After a brief welcome from WTHS Guidance Counselor Karin Eckert-Carpenter, the alums introduced themselves and said a little about what they are involved in at their schools. After that, it was an open discussion.
“We thought it would be a great idea to bring back and recognize some of our former students who have gone on to have success in college,” said Eckert-Carpenter, who moderated the event alongside fellow counselor Tanya Brown-Johnson. “We believe they will be a great resource in sharing with our current students what it takes to successfully complete their high school careers and to prepare for the transition to college.”
The current juniors and seniors asked questions to the panel about everything from food options, to living on campus, to balancing school and sports, to social life vs. academic life, and more.
Alumni on the panel included: Joe Vilotti (WTHS class of 2013), Villanova University; Cameron Scotese (Class of 2011), Rutgers University-Camden; Eric Palmiero (Class of 2014), Widener University; Bella Siravo (Class of 2014), Philadelphia University; Justin Sommerman (Class of 2014), University of South Carolina; Drew Balkenhol (Class of 2013), West Virginia University; Annette Palladino (Class of 2014), Temple University; Erin Waller (Class of 2011), The College of New Jersey; and Kelsey Powell (Class of 2014), Widener University.
