Brandon Briggs Wins Annual Hurffville Elementary School Geography Bee

Fifth grader Brand Briggs emerged victorious over 15 other students at Hurffville Elementary School's 17th Annual National Geographic Bee.
Most of the 16 fourth and fifth grade competitors did admirably well in the first seven rounds. But once it was narrowed down to five students, things became much more challenging. Briggs and Max DiRaddo squeaked through the competition to the final round, where Briggs came up with the victory.
For his efforts, Briggs won a medal and a world atlas that was presented by Hurffville Principal Jeff Pollock, on behalf of the Hurffville PTO.
Second place went to Max DiRaddo, while the other finalists included Jacob Davis, Jake Lafferty, and John Palaganas. Briggs will now take a written exam to see if he can qualify for the state Geography Bee competition.
