Veterans Memorial School Holds Fifth Annual Salute

On Wednesday, Veterans Memorial School in Vineland held its fifth annual salute to men and women who served in all branches of the military with a program entitled "Honoring Our Heroes: Past, Present, and Future.”
A group of about 60 local veterans were guests for the 90-minute program, along with 8th grade students who led a flag salute, sang songs, performed in a band, and read essays they composed.
Also taking part in the program was the color guard from the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Vineland High School.
The program also featured Bruce Land, a guest speaker, and US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
"My heroes are these people right here in front of me," said Land, gesturing to the veterans seated in the audience, including a group from the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. "These people that served when they were called, that went all over the world. So whenever you see a veteran or somebody in uniform, take that one second to say thank you. It means a lot."
