Orchard Valley Middle School Male Teachers Are Participating in "Mustaches for Military Veterans"
All nine Orchard Valley Middle School male teachers have put away their razors this fall and grew out their facial hour in a fundraising activity, "Mustaches for Military Veterans," that will benefit Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit organization. Students and fellow staff have been given the opportunity to purchase small pompoms for 25 cents each. The purchased pompoms are attached to a teacher's photo displayed in the hallway. The teacher with the thickest pom-pom beard will be shaved by Washington Township barber Bob Timmons at his barber shop, Timmons Trimmins, on October 30. Home for Our Troops is committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries. The organization assists severely injured veterans and their families by garnering money, building materials and professional labor, and by coordinating the process of building homes that provide maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently. "Mustaches for Military Vetarans" has already raised $500 for the cause.
