JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. (AP) - The special U.S. House election in southwestern Pennsylvania showed how Democrats tolerated Conor Lamb's centrist stance on certain hot-button issues, while rallying around his embrace of core party positions on issues such as health care. Lamb seized the lead for a seat in a Republican stronghold over Rick Saccone. Several months ago, few thought it possible a Democrat could win this district.

ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A New York man who won a new trial in a northwestern Pennsylvania shooting death more than two decades ago is seeking release after a 180-day deadline for the retrial expires Monday. The Erie Times-News reports that the Erie County district attorney's office asked a federal magistrate Friday to keep 49-year-old Vance Haskell in prison. He was convicted of first-degree murder in the December 1994 slaying of Darrel Cooley. Prosecutors say they aren't at fault for delays in the retrial.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Democrat Conor Lamb and Republican Rick Saccone each could see a primary contest in new congressional districts after they battled for an existing southwestern Pennsylvania district. Lamb's seeking a full term in Congress in a new Pittsburgh-area district where two Democrats also say they're gathering signatures to get on May's primary ballot. Saccone and Republican state Sen. Guy Reschenthaler are gathering signatures in a new southwestern Pennsylvania district.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Police say a missing Pennsylvania teenager has traveled to Mexico with a 45-year-old man, and they're encouraging her to return home to her family. Allentown police said Friday that Amy Yu and Kevin Esterly bought one-way tickets from Philadelphia to Dallas and then headed to Cancun. They say they believe the teen went willingly.
